Hi guys,

I am trying to make the use of some kit i have accumulated, but am having an issue with the sub connections.

I have a Pioneer VSA-E03 reciever amp with a subwoofer preamp out RCA connection. The trouble is my subwoofer is a Pioneer S L11-S-LRW passive sub with just red and black speaker wire connectors.

I found an old stero power amp (Yamaha AX-400) and thought I could just create an RCA Y cable to take the single preamp output to 2 inputs on the AUX channel of the Yamaha amp and use that to power the sub, but I get no sound.

I have tried input direct from an MP3 player to the yamaha amp and I get sound from the sub (all be it higher frequencies as well) so I know all 3 components do work.

Please help

David

It Should work. I tried something like that b4. I connected a speaker with a 12"woofer to a 2channel receiver then from the multi channel receiver i connected the preout for the sub to the cd or ne input on the 2ch receiver. It worked pretty well. I actually tried using a y to have the second speaker there too but no sound came out i guessed the y was no good so i didnt bother. Dont use the y and connect only the left or right see wat happens.I eventually connect 1 speaker on left a channel and 1 speaker on b channel turn the balance to the left and bang i had some nice bass :D
