I just got done passive bi-amping my left and right rear speakers. I had two channels on my Outlaw 770 amp unused. I can't hear any significant difference, either pro or con. Any way the two unused channels on my amp are now being used.
Look at it this way, the other five channels on my amp will not complain about the two unused channels drawing juice from the twin torroidals and doing no work in return. :)

Marantz SR7500 bi-amping

I am stuck with a smilar problem.

I own a marantz SR7500 and Polk Audio Monitor 70 Fronts.
The polk can be bi-amped and driven at 275 Watts. I would like to know How I can setup so that I can use my unused Surround backs to drive the highs on my fronts. The user manual suggest bi-wiring using the speaker "C" setup but drives each channel at 77 watts as opposed to the normal 105 wats per channel that the marantz is capable of in a 7.1 mode.

Thanks
Ramesh

They probably measure the 105 watt capability as the amount each channel can drive during a standard movie track where all channels are not being driven simultaneously. When you are using the two "C" channel's as well as the front channel's for the fronts they will be playing the same material at the same time requiring more from the power supply at a given instant. This translates to more power to the fronts (77 x 2) and less to everything else. I could be way off so if someone wants to clarify this, feel free. Just an intuitive guess on my part.
