I have a denon 5803 which i love but the on screen display has stopped working. everything else works just fine, called denon and they said to to reset the processor which i did, but it didn't fix my problem. however it did create a problem, it set my all inputs back to default and i can't assign any inputs. took to denon authorized service center and they found the problem. i need a new video card, problem is they don't make parts for the 5803 anymore. anybody know where to get parts for the 5803. help!

Apart from the want list on eBay you are probably SOL.

The problem is chip sets are only made once. When they are gone they are gone.

So you need to find new old stock or a non working receiver with a different problem.

Chances are you receiver is headed for the recycling center. That receiver is 2003 and very outdated and outclassed now. It really is not worth putting any money into.

My advice is to get a new receiver or separates. It has had a long life for an AV receiver. The newer ones because of complexity will likely have a shorter life.

I also have a Denon 5803 with problems other than you described. Give me your contact info and maybe we can make a deal for parts.

Thanks,
Steve

Basic problem is the rapid obsolesence in technology..
About every 2 years the technology doubles in progrssion for speed and capability while decreasing in cost just like PCs..

Check Craig's List frequently and one can find AVRs for just parts. Another place is the local Denon Service Center as they often have older products that one has chosen not to repair due to cost..

Just my $0.02... ;)
