Does anyone know where I can get a 10" Paradyne subwoofer re-coned? I called Paradyne abd they want $210 to do it.

Thanks

Never heard of Paradyne (sounds like a Velodyne and Paradigm sub had a baby :) ), but maybe contact several of the speaker repair specialists for quotes....

I think you mean Paradigm. You need to ask them if they will sell you a new cone/VC, dust cap, surround and factory voice coil shims. If they wil,l you can do it yourself. If they will not sell parts, then you will have to have Paradigm do it. For parts and labor their charge sounds reasonable.

Unless you’re way off the grid someone within a reasonable distance should be able to do it. That will save shipping which is probably a good portion of the repair.

Tahnks for the responses. This sub is at least 20 years old. Is it worth putting over $200 into the repair?

I think it depends if you can buy the parts at reasonable cost and repair the speaker yourself, otherwise no.

If you can get the parts I can guide you through the repair. It is not that difficult, you just have to be careful and take your time.

What is the reason it needs reconing?

It's rotted and denigrating

I dunno - a rotted surround can sound pretty denigrating at times... ;)
