i'm looking to build a simple 2ch system strictly for music. the speaker of choice is subjective to each listeners ears but i do not have a authorised dealer in my area for either company. i listen to music at loud volumes but not to the point where my ear drums bleed. i'm looking for natural highs, solid midbass, good kick-drum, and true midrange. i wanna be able to play these speakers with no subs and have a sound that is full and rich. for amplification i'm looking at the anthem intergrated 225(preamp/amp 225 X 2 @ 8ohm)

The Def Techs have built in subs, so I would venture to say you will have a more solid low end with those, but I've never heard the Paradigms, so I can't say for sure. But the only way to know for sure is to listen to both, prefereably in your own home if the dealer will allow you to take them home and audition them.

Ummm....I wonder what I would say....

What kind of music are you listening to? If it is nasty, hard rock or rap then DT may be the way to go.

If it is good clean music and you want accurate reproduction with very good highs and awesome midrange with a decent amount of low end, the I would go with the Digms.

I would tend to agree with this.

As for bass, the DTs can put out a lot, but I find it to be boomy or flabby. I haven't had extensive experience with the 7002s exactly, but I've heard them some, and I lived with the 2002TL for a couple years. If you are interested in quality bass, I believe there are better options.

How did you come to decide on the DT or Paradigms? Would you consider other brands? Also, as noted above, what's kind of music are you listening to?

No. Get Cerwins.

cerwins with odyssey candella pre amp and stratos mono's? i think not. just because a speaker was designed for super hifidelity doesn't mean it can peform well with distored music

i listened to them a couple of weeks ago... they look and sound sick. the highs are little too bright for me. they play low as hell. you don't need subs in 2 ch mode with those bad boys! if i did get them... i would stuff a sock and a used condom in the mouth of the compression driver to calm the ear bleeding highs....

Save the condom for something better and buy the Digms. ;)

I really liked the sound of the Studio 40 and 60 when I listened to them: nice and clean. I didn't listen to the 100s and have neaver listened to DefTechs.
