Paradigm Studio owners . . . a little help please!

IMy new speakers should be coming in next week - Studio 100 V3's, Studio ADP470 surrounds, and the Studio CC570 center - I'm SOOOOO excited!!! :D :D :D

Can anyone tell me what the ADP's come with as far as wall mounting hardware? Are there aftermarket brackets that might be better for some reason? Would tilting them down a little help or hurt? They will be about 1 foot behind and about 5-6 feet above the listeners.

Also, since all of these are bi-wireable - should I? I know that the prevailing opinion is that there is very little if any audible gain from doing this, but can it hurt? Will it help in anyway for longer runs??

Thanks for your help,

The brackets supplied by Paradigm with the speakers are great & mount easily to the wall. I located a stud, drilled holes using the bracket, secured the bracket with the supplied screws and placed the ADPs down on the brackets. The only step I left out is securing the speaker brackets so that they can be placed down on the wall brackets.

Also, I have 27 x 17.5' of room to work with. My ADPs are 6' from the ground and approximately 8.5' from the center listening position on both sides.

I bi-wire the ADPs with Kimber Quick 12 wire to a Yamaha RX-Z9 receiver and have enjoyed the results. Kimber Quick 12 wire was found at a local Hi-Fi specialty retailer in Atlanta called Sound & Cinema. Hope this helps.

I am installing almost the same setup with the exception of going with Studio 60's. The 470's will be getting a custom made stand since there are no walls where the speakers can be placed.

PS after listening to many, many speakers, we found the Paradigm Reference speakers to be superb. For lack of a better way to describe them, let me say they were as "crisp" as I have ever heard.

Paul,

Congratulations on your purchase of the Paradigms - you should be excited. After owning almost an identical configuration for 5 months, I feel certain that you won't be sorry with your selection. I have an extremely similar arrangement - 100 v.3s, with a CC-470 and ADP-470s as rear channels, paired with a HSU TN-1220 sub, and they produce a marvelous sound when driven through my B&K AVR-507 & HSU 500 watt SubAmp. I've never had any of my audiophile friends complain, but maybe that's because the wet bar is directly behind the rear wall. Hmmmmnnn

My listening room is about 17w x 22d, with 10' ceilings, and large openings in the back and sides. My ADP-470s are mounted on the rear wall about 9' up on the factory supplied brackets, with no adjustments made for angling or tilting the speakers downward. Based on my listening experience, I think I am getting excellent surround coverage, and there is no need to angle the speakers downward. Remember, they have excellent dispersion, and what little bit of angle adjustment you might try and add probably would not amount to much, anyway. I'd be more concerned with ensuring that you have a good, solid, sturdy mount for the speakers on the wall. If you still are concerned, you can always bump up the volume a bit on the surround channels. However, I think if you can mount them lower than 9' high, you shouldn't be too concerned.

Enjoy your new system. I feel certain you'll love it.

Thanks for the info and enthusiasm!

Brian - I'm not sure I understand what you meant by "The only step I left out is securing the speaker brackets so that they can be placed down on the wall brackets.", but it will probably become more obvious when I get the ADP's.

Rat - I agree completely, I read for two years and demo'd for 6 months before I settled on this set up, and I can't wait to hear them in my own house!

Pat - Sounds like we have very similar rooms. Mine is 20'x21', with high (15' at peak) open-beam ceilings, windows on two walls and two large openings. One of the ADP's will be located over one of the openings and the other directly across the room from it over the windows - both in line at about 8' up. I am going down tomorrow to meet with Dr. Hsu for some Q&A and a demo, and will very likely come home with a VTF3-MK2 in rosewood finish to complement the rosenut finish on the Studio 100's and center. Speaking of the center - the 570 is a monster! 9.5" H x 26.5" W x 13" D and 45 lbs! I know there are bigger centers out there, but even this one has me reconsidering whether the Mits 55-65" DLP or CRT RP I'm getting in the next month or so could support having this center on top of it.

I have a brand new still in the box Denon 3805 to do the processing and power the surrounds, and a Harmon Kardon Citation 16 amp to run just the mains for now (160wpc). In the next month after I get the TV and burn everything in and get it all calibrated I can't wait to play LOTR and some SACD's!!! :D :D
