Paradigm Studio 40s

I'm looking to set up the AV system in the "family room" of my new house, and I'm to the point of putting the front channel speakers on a shelf of the beautiful built-in. I've been to a local store and have decided upon a pair of Studio 40s, but I would need to place them horizontally in the bookshelf. The salesman suggested using CC-470s instead of Studio 40s mounted sideways.

The specs look very similar, but I'm just not sure.

I'm going to be using a CC-470 as the center channel, SA-25s in the rear, and powering them all with a 3806.

Thanks for any advise.

Studio/40s are rear ported. I would strongly advise against putting them up against a wall. These are really not a great option for shelf placement.

Just for the record, I use Studio/40s in my main system and love them. I just think they are wrong for your application.

Isn't that on the older, v.2 studios? I think v.3's are front ported. My 20's are and from the Paradigm site, the 40's look like they're front ported also.
