I am setting up my first HT. My room is 13x23x8.5 or 2,541 cubic feet, a shoebox shape with a flat ceiling.

My HT will be used 90% for DVDs movies and TV movies Very little for music listening only.

My speaker selection is as follows:

Front: Paradigm Mini Monitors
cent: Paradigm CC350
surrounds: Paradigm ADP-170

My big dilema is the Sub...

I've heard the Paradigm PDR-12 and was impressed for $480. However, I've heard great things about the SVS PB-10 for the same price..shipped.

Has anyone actually compared the two? Any thoughts?

My other dilema is whether or not the Paradigm 12 is overkill for my room. But then again its only $100 more than the Paradigm 10 inch.

PART TWO

How's this for tweaking my system to stay within budget:

Front: Paradigm Mini-Monitors
Center: Paradigm CC370
Rear: Paradigm Cinema ADP (vs ADP170) savings $180
Sub: SVS PB-12 ($600) instead of Paradigm 12 inch $500

Net....$80 savings

Any thoughts

I have the SVS PB-12 in a room that is 22X12 and it is fantastic. Bass is tight and very powerful. It sounds and FEELS great. If you have the floor space, you will not be disappointed. I heard the PDR-12, and it does sound very good, but I couldn't really FEEL it.

I see nothing wrong with going with the Cinema ADP's, and the Mini-Monitors sound very good for the $$, although if you can swing another $170, the Monitor 5's sound fantastic - better than the floorstanding 7's and above in my opinion. I like the Mini's over the 3's though - better midrange and although not as much bass, that is what subs are for!
Definitely go with the CC370.

thanks Karp....I think I am going to pull the trigger on the PB-12. I may even go for the Monitor 5s. Just lost a great bid on Monitor 5s (2 years old) for 366 on ebay.
