would I be better off with monitor 7's,cc370 and mini monitors or studio 20's and studio ccv2?I have a 35ftx12 recroom with clickfloor(no sub floor).I'm not too sure if these choices will fill the room.

Monitor 7's for movies and fill the whole area better.
Studio 20's for music and if you don't need fill the whole area with loud music.

Have you auditioned them yet?

You are going to need a lot of enough woofage to fill that large an area.

I've owned the studio 20's before. My plan was to start off with them for fronts, studio cc and studi adp's for the rear.later I would upgrade to the 60's or 100's.I have a set of 20's on the way to me now but it's not too late to go the monitor way.I can afford the monitors right now,I can't afford the studio 100's.

The Studio 20's will be a much better choice overall. I am always of the opinion that you should go with sound quality over SPL all the time. The Monitor 7's wont play THAT much louder, but the 20's WILL sound better. If you are planning on upgrading to more Studio's in the future, then the choice is even easier.

I agree to some extent BUT would like to mention my .02 if you dont mind. For a room that size there really is no comparison in that the Monitor 7 v.3's would fill that size of room w/more sound. This is especially true if he is NOT using a powered subwoofer. Furthermore, the Monitor 7's would also offer much more dynamic capability as well as a siginificantly larger full-range sound. Dont take me wrong, I agree the Studio 20's are over achievers BUT not so much so given that large a room. IMHO, the Monitor 7 v.3's do a really good job with respect to music applications and given the circumstances I would opt for the 7's.

I guess I am thinking that neither will fill the room of his size the greatest anyhow, and the poster stated he may upgrade to Studio 100's or 60's down the road. If that does happen he can move the 20's to the rears for matching surrounds or if that isnt an option, the 20's would be easier to move on the second-hand market. Personally I would opt for the 20's and enjoy a much better mid-range and tweeter (although the Monitor 7's are good).

Thanks for the replys.I have a microstar 12.1 for a sub, itlost alot of power when I moved it to the basement.I have a mirage omni system (260's,cc and fx)now. It sounded great upstairs too, sounds bad in the recroom.I bought the 20's and they will arrive soon.I'm also looking at the studio cc and adp's.When I get the 100's,the 20's will make up a 7.1 system.

I have monitor 7's and they are fine, however I would stay as far away from the CC370 as you can. It is an awful design. I literaly threw mine in the trash. I now have a CC470 that is pretty nice. Better yet get the CC570.

Many people seem to complain about the ability of the cc-370 v.3 or v.4 to handle lower frequencies. If, you use a X-over setting of 80 Hz, then personally I am not sure where that is such an issue. I use to own a cc-170 v.3 and thought it was a decent center. Furthermore, the cc-370 v.3 or v.4 is definitely a better sounding center speaker than the cc-170 v.3. To date, I am still mesmorized by how well the Atom v.3 or v.4's sound--truly "giant" killers. All in all though, it is still worth mentioning that the Studio series is CLEARLY a huge step-up from both the Performance and the Monitor lines all across the board. Anyways, hope this helps.

You can see by my equipment list that I have the Monitor series. I agree to a certain extent that the CC-370 is the weak link in the Monitor line-up. It's not bad, but it could have been better and I have been tempted to go with a single mini-monitor as a center. The Atom is an unbelievable speaker for the money - I plan on picking up another pair or two before they disappear. It sounds like the Performance and Monitor lines are being phased out very shortly. You won't find your dealer getting any more in, so snap up what you want now, probably at a good discount.
