Hi: First off thanks a LOT for all the suggestions.. I appreciated all of them. Here may be a problem..My TV is a 61" Toshiba DLP..So how and where would I put a monitor 5? Can you put them on their side? If not how could I do this? I am pretty sure after your posts that I won't be buying the cc370..Is it a crazy idea to buy another brand?? I am new to this and without spending too much I want a good set up. My buget for a sub and center channel is about 12 hundred bucks...again all suggestions greatly appreciated

no need to apologize, if you post in your original thread, it will bring the entire thread back up top. that way, those that are helping you can reference the previous posts and your original question.

happy center speaker hunting!

I would put on it's side at the foot of the TV tilted so the speakers are aimed at ear level. My Studio 20 is on it's side on a shelf about 12 inches off the floor just below the plasma. You can buy stands for that or use door stops to tilt up the speaker. I use the door stop method.

In regards to the sub, how many cubic feet is your room?

I'm still learning........
The posts are listed chronologically. For example if you responded to this post, as soon as you hit "reply" it would move to the top of the speaker forum posts because it would be the newest.

hey nick, do you have a pic of your center/plasma setup? i'm curious as to how it looks like especially the fact the studios have a concave part on one side.

My TV is quite big (61") and needs a stand, so still not sure how a big speaker on its side would work, cuz would it not cover my stand where my receiver, and cable box go??

Yep, that's the dilemma posed by the new slimmer TVs, where to best position a good sized center? Not looking forward to that challenge unless I upgrade to a nice, wall-mountable, 60+" plasma.

I tried to get some decent shots of the system a while back, but my digital camera and I do not get along too well. I will try again, after consulting the camera manual.

I am currently setup with Monitor 11s v4 as my main front L/R. I previously had the CC-370 v4 in the center and now have the new CC-290 v5. The CC-290 is the replacement for 370, and presents no timbre problems at all.

In fact I am quite pleased with the more expansive, and detailed front sound stage.

I am also running the ADP 390's v5 for my side and rear surrounds. They all work great together, and sound great for both music and movies.

Paradigm list both the CC-190 and the CC-290 as replacements for the CC-370. You could go with either one over the CC-370 and be quite satisfied.

Hello there. Cant wait till I get to hear the all new Monitor v.5 version as well as the all new Studio v.4. How does the cc-290 v.5 compare to the cc-370 v.3/v.4? There were mainly cosmetic changes between the Monitor v.3 and the v.4 respectively. Just curious as my local dealer should be getting them in very soon.

Speakerman, the CC-290 v5 is a significant improvement over the CC-370 v4 (never owned v3).

The 370 was descent, but at times sounded a bit boxey depending on the material.

The CC-290 with the additional midrange driver has a more detailed and fuller sound, vastly improved off axis sound dispersion, a better overall dynamic range. I love my v4 Monitor 11's and I don't really think the improvement on the v5's (at least for the 11's) will be as noticeable as with the center channels, so I'm not interested in the hearing the v5 Monitor 11's (at least not at present).

The ADP-370's were fine surrounds, I just went with the ADP-390's because of new additional driver. I find the build quality of the v5 ADP's a bit skimpy, but they still sound great.

The quality to price ratio of the Paradigm Monitor series is still one of the best in my opinion.

Thanks there for the info. Hopefully, I will be able to hear them for myself real soon. Guess my curiousity is getting the better of me if you know what I mean.

I can post some of my observations BUT not sure how useful it would be. Hence, I will ONLY be able to listen to them at my local Paradigm dealer and as you know it would sound entirely different at home. I do plan on spending some time there checking it all out. In fact, I will check and see if my local dealer has any of the new stuff in yet. Have a great day. Congrats on your new speakers.
