Panasonic's service menu (overscan)

I found out how to get into the service menu on my new 34wx15 direct view tube tv to correct some overscan that was bugging me. Everything worked out great. You got out of the service menu by turning the power off on the set itself. You could then turn the power on by the set or remote and everything would work like normal.

I decided to apply the same procedure on my 11 year old 27 inch Panasonic Gaoo tv and wouldn't you know it, it worked. I corrected alot of overscan and tilt that all these years I didn't even know I had. When I was finished I turned the set off. I turned it back on and whether I turn it on by the set or remote it would power back up, but everytime I get the letters CHK, which means that I am still in the service menu. If I press the power button on the remote it goes through all the different sections within the service menu. I can't turn the tv off with the remote. I have to turn the tv off on the set. I tried unplugging it for awhile but that doesn't work either. In fact, as soon as I plug the tv back in it actually turns on automatically. And that CHK will not leave the screen. I can't let my son watch this tv in my bedroom because if he hits the power button on the remote and then continues to press the channel and volume buttons, well lets just say I would be screwed.

I'm sure it's a combination of a couple of buttons that need to be pressed for a couple of seconds to get out of the SM, but I have tried everything. I NEED HELP!

But, have you tried to hold down some of the main keys for a number of seconds? Key combo?
A visit to AVS web site?:p

I figured it out, press action on the tv and then press the power button on the tv at the same time, 2-3 seconds later, voila, service menu is gone.

Hey, that is great. Now write it down since you won't do it frequently and may forget next year:D
