Panasonic LCD Rear Projection getting dimmer

I have had my TV for almost 2 1/2 years now. When I first got it I tuned it myself to my liking and turned down the brightness and all that good stuff. Literally in the past 2 weeks I have noticed the brightness/color sharpness/vividness of the picture has gone down about 15-20% and seems to get worse every week. I have since turned up the settings and it really doesn't help, it looks more washed out and the colors and definition just isn't the same as it used to be.

Is this normal as the bulb ages? Should I replace it now before it goes out? Or is something else wrong with the TV?

Thanks for the help in advance,
Will

I'm guessing 2.5 yrs is high time for a bulb change. If you go till it dies, it's possible the bulb might blow, but it won't hurt anything in its own housing. It might scare you though. :)

Kinda had a feeling it was time. So then it's true, the bulbs do get dimmer over time?
