Panny was displaying their new 1080p LCD projector at CEDIA today which features a 11,000:1 contrast ratio, all glass lens assembly, dual HDMI and component video inputs, and a 1920x1080 LCD Epson chip.

Some pics and such are up at my sites (come back here when done!) and I'm sure that Audioholics will have some excellent coverage up as well. This one is pretty darn exciting I would say.

if that doesn't work...

From early information provided on the Web, I would like to see an early shootout between the PT-AE1000 and the Sony VPL-VW50 FP's since they both are probably at the same price point and both are 1080P LCDs (OK, Sony uses their proprietary LCOS sXRD chips).

I've gotta say, but will confirm tomorrow. The Optoma HD81 was the bargain winner for most killer 1080p projection display at CEDIA. Shown on a 1.3 gain 13 foot wide 2.35 screen with an anamorphic lens... B - I - G and gorgeous. I'm a bit rainbow sensitive and only rarely caught the briefest shimmer. Vibrant incredibly sharp image and a brightness that was astounding. They are calling for it to be $7K which is a fair bit less than my photos indicated ($10K) so maybe that'll be a more accurate street price. Or maybe they mistakenly were quoting me cost. If the later, my apologies, but we will still likely find a few street prices in the $8K range and dropping throughout the year.

I will be hitting an InFocus offsite demo tomorrow... non-disclosure agreement may be signed which may limit anything that I say other than general impressions.

Have you been able to compare it(the hd 81) with the Marantz 11. They both use the same DC3 chipset and both use the same gennum vxp chip as well, but the optoma costs about a third of the Marantz.
I have shortlisted it for my new cinema room and will be demoing it tomorrow.
