panasonic 50 inch dlp/dvd hookup problems

panasonic 50dl54,when i try to hookup my dvd to the rear of the tv,i follow the manual and hook rca plugs to the pyb jacks on the back of the dvd to the input pyb jacks on the back of the tv.i make sure that each plug matches the same color on each.green to green plug ect.the result is no picture but colored waves going accross the screen.the only way i can make it work is a single video out on the back of the dvd to single video in on the side of the tv.help.

Did you try a different set of component cables? Also, are you sure you have the tv on the correct input?

You may also have to instruct the dvd player to use the component out?

What kind of DVD player is it? Some players require you to connect it with composite first and then go into the setup menu and change a setting from "S-Video" to "Component". Then you can connect it with the component cables.
