It's alright, but personally I would go with an APC unit.

APCAV Product Family: AV Power Conditioners & Battery Backups

Those are a list of different models, find one that's close to the price what you want to spend and google away.

I have an APC S15 and couldn't be happier with it. It gives at least as much surge protection as anything else I was looking at, plus battery backup and line conditioning.

I have both an APC and A Panamax and I don't have a preference for either one. They both seem to do about the same job.

I just like the APC for the battery backup that it includes :D

Something about the big 60lb silver beast makes me feel protected :p

Unless it has a bulb that needs to be cooled (RPTV, projector, etc...), a battery backup doesn't buy you anything with most HT gear.

Well, the battery is not only for backup, but it also kicks on for voltage regulation, plus I have my computer plugged into it by way of extension cord (small apartment) so the battery backup is more than worth it, especially since it was only slightly more than the 5300.

I have to say, it's clicked on a few times for voltage reg, I don't know how much it's actually doing to protect the electronics when it does, but hey couldn't hurt either I guess.

The APC also has a higher surge rating and TLS guy recommended APC to me :D
