I never saw that particular ESS model, however I have heard a number of models in their day.

ESS speakers always sounded poor to me, with very poor integration of woofer and the Heil unit.

The Transar 1 was a disaster and very unreliable. Failure I believe was 100% in short order.

The Transar II was not so unreliable, but had a reputation for poor sound along with the rest of their range.

ESS had a reputation without parallel for dealer and customer abuse.

No one shed a tear over their bankruptcy.

Thanks for the response. I was always curious about these but never in a serious way. I know now to pass them up if they ever I come across speakers from them.
