Padding between bookshelves and speaker stands?

So I have new bookshelf speakers and stands, and the stands came with these small black bumper pads (smaller than a quarter) to put at each corner of the speaker stand. I assume these are to keep the speaker finish from scratching, to provide better grip, and minimize vibrations to keep the sound clearer. The problem is that they are too small and do not stay put.

I did some googling and looked at accessories4less, but not finding an alternative. Right now I am using some black card stock that I cut to fit the shape of my speaker stand top surface, but I'm wondering if there are better alternatives? I have no idea what to look for.

Any ideas?

Get some mopads. They are very nice and give you very good isolation from the stands.

This is helpful. I wasn's even sure what to call them, so my googling turned up nada.
After searching for mopads I see all sorts of things. Of course after finding auralex products for $40, I think I might invesitgate a DIY method. Surely there is a less expensive way. Maybe some thick cloth/fabric, or foam board.

You never mentioned. Cheap. :D

I honestly use the bumpers on my Sanus. I'm not kidding.

But since you asked you can try some dynamat or peel-n-seal.

I bought some extra firm latex foam from Foam Online (http://www.foamonline.com/) to use to decouple my speakers and subwoofer. It's pretty cheap but shipping is kinda expensive (they're set up for large orders so it's not suprising). I got enough for one sub and four speakers for about $20.

Mopads may be expensive but they really work well.

Foam drawer liner
Weather stripping
Blu-tack

Just use blu tac.
Expells moisture over time, stains wood. Previous occupant in my apartment used blue tac to put a bunch of pictures on the wall and you can clearly see the stains where each blob of tac used to be. I can't recommend using it if the finish of your speakers is important at all to you.;)

Thanks for the heads up!:D

The user above that chose latex foam is the right solution for DIY. The latex foam, unlike the low density polyurethane trash sold in local stores, will last for decades, keeping nearly identical properties over many years and resisting any flattening that occurs with regular foams. Foam online is the place I know of with reasonable selection and price of a huge variety of foams. Get the stiffest latex foam the offer, in at least 1/2" - 3/4" thickness. Use over the entire surface area of the speaker bottom. For very high weight speakers (not applicable here), one may have to use different material combination(s).
