Overwhelmed by choices

Ok, here goes,

Ever since about five years ago, i walked into an electronics store and bought an HTIB from Aiwa for around $300, I was hooked. There is nothing more enjoyable to me than being in a theater that is located in my living room.

Those Aiwas ( thank God ) are long gone and slowly building my electronics over the years.

It started with the TV. The Sony 34xbr910 is just a joy to watch.
A decent dvd player with the Pioneer DV563A ( this will get upgraded later on)
Denon 2805 receiver just sitting around waiting for speakers!!!

I have been reading these forums for about two years and really enjoy reading everybodies inputs.
I am really interested in the Paradigm Monitor 7's or 9"s with the whole surround package.
My wife said she prefers Floorstanders for fronts( which literally shocked the hell out of me) and was just wondering what was out there for $2000 to $3000 range.

Was kind of interested in the Monitor Audio S6 line.
They got that new RS line

Energy I hear people are liking

So many speakers out there.

I'd go with your first choice the Paradigm system, with either the Monitor 7 or 9's will put you within your budget, personally I wouldnt get the Paradigm sub with the system, I'd order one from svs subwoofers. good luck with your system

It is pretty much where i expected to end up with anyway. The monitor is another way i was thinking as well.

Live on the sixth floor of an apartment also. Room is 15ft by 18ft.

Thanks Spiffyfast. I am thinking 7's as well over the 9's

I don't know what you've listened to for speakers, but we all have certain tastes. Mine center around a little "softer" treble sound. Consequently, I don't really like B&W speakers (too bright for my tastes), but I really love Phase Technology. Unfortunately, the PC9.1 speakers (which sound awesome) are $2k for the pair. If your budget ever goes up, I'd suggest you take a listen to them.

If you've been around the forum for 2 years, then I really don't need to throw out names of good manufacturers. All I can say is get out and listen at your local dealers. You may find something you love.

Welcome to the forum Tas (or congrats for finally posting  ). I've heard more positives then negatives on the speakers you've mentioned above. What I can add is that my good friend has a Denon 2803 paried up with a 7.1 tower set of Paradigm Monitors, and has experienced several "shut downs" during elevated listening. The Denon seems to go into protection mode quite a bit. We've determined it to be the speakers lower impedence rating. Paradigm, like Polk love power. If you don't through a lot of parties, or listen to music for extended periods of time, you'll be fine. But if you entertain, and blast your system, I'd look for some more efficient offerings. The problem is that most of your mid to upper level speaker systems require a lot more power than these sub $1200 receivers offer. You've taken your time and have come this far. I'm sure you've demo'd plenty of units with the Denon receivers. What are your thoughts?

Audioholics just posted an impresive review of the Axiom Audio M80 surround system. Your receiver won't have enough power to drive the 4 ohm M80s, but it would probably work well with a M60's and would match up well to your 2-3K budget.
