Overheating problems with oppo BDP83

Hi
I purchased an OPPO BDP83 in mid may, and it is hooked via HDMI to a Denon AVR2310 in a 5.1 setup, next to a PS3 and a WDHDTV.
I live in Lebanon so it's a Zone B bluray and I buy most of blurays from the US, so the oppo was bought because it was a Zone A player, and for its SACD and DVDA capabilities. I have a small collection of those.
About a week ago I started hearing strange noise and cracking in my surround channels on SACD multichannel programs, later I tried a bluray with dolby true HD, well the sound started stuttering, and then no sound at all, if I switch the output to LPCM I get the sound back but with the noise in surrounds.
turn the oppo off, let it cool, I get 10 or 15 minutes of Hi res audio then the problem reappears.
I opened the oppo's cover and put in a dolby true hd bluray, when I started to get dropouts, I pointed a house fan to the oppo, and guess what, it worked ok, 3 hours later it was still going ok.
I took out the house fan and a little later, the problem reappered.
Oh, did I mention that the oppo fan did not kick in.
Any help is appreciated
Thank you all

Either the fan is bad, or the sensor and or circuit that starts the fan is out. Unless it is the fan you will not fix this yourself. If it is under warranty, return it, as this episode has likely severely shortened the life of the unit.
