It is a rotary volume knob and rotary balance knob. Its only an old system i picked up to play with, but it is suprisingly good, has an equaliser, tuner, dual tape deck, 5 CD changer, plus the amp. it can run 5 speakers and has many DSP's. it has dolby pro logic and when on this setting it is pretty even, but the right channel lacks any bass. on normal mode the right recieves very little sound at all. that is what confuses me as a volume or balance knob problem wouldnt change with sound settings, i would think. it has a decent amp, the 2 speakers that came with it (had 5 origionally) are 3 way , one is stuffed (broken cone and voice coil lead severed) and the good one cant handle more than about a quarter of the volume level. im gonna hook up the VE-12's for fun. i had my VE-5M bookshelfs that i use for surrounds hooked up and it sounds suprisingly good. really want to get it perfect as my brother wants a cheap surround system and with some old speakers could be quite good. I knopw it has dolby pro logic, but all DVD are atleast dolby digital, would it put out surround sound? it only has red/white RCA inputs. It has 2 video inputs and one video out plus a phono input. The seller said she paid around $2500 about 12 years ago.
