I have ordered the Outlaw 2160 receiver after reading many positive reviews . I am also interested in svs ultra bookshelf speakers to go with this receiver . its hard to know how they will work together when you cant go and listen to both of these products in a store . I live in Canada and there is no chance to hear a demonstration . My question is will they be a good match together or is there better options for that receiver . The receiver company gives you a return policy if your not happy so I still have options . Thank you for any responses to this question ….

The Outlaw is good, but fair or not, is a poor value relative to last year model AVRs. That being said, I fully understand why most people don't want to take advantage of those deeply discounted AVRs because of the form follow function philosophy.

Back to your question, the Ultra bookshelf should be a good match in terms of power requirements. Obviously there are better options, depending on your budget.

The Ultras have no special needs and the Outlaw receiver will handle them just fine (as would almost all receivers of competent design, excepting very low power or HTiB recievers).
The Ultra's are well rounded and one of my favored speakers, I think you will be very happy with that setup!
Get your favorite music ready and enjoy some great sound quality!

Your question sounds like you may have read too many reviews that talk about stuff like "the warmth of the ???? receiver perfectly complimented the clinical nature of the ????? speakers".
That is BS! Speakers definitely have their own sound, but any competently designed, modern receiver/amp should amplify without coloring the sound. Consequently, any differences between receivers are minuscule compared to the speakers.
That said, once you start applying EQ (tone controls in the case of the Outlaw) different companies choose different roll off rates and frequencies, so of course there will be differences from that!

Why wouldn't they work together? Not much to "listen" to in a receiver...

One speaker that should be considered is the Outlaw BLSv2. It's a solid speaker, very neutral, and very nicely well-rounded design. That one needs to get more recognition!

Completely happy with my Outlaw 2160 and Focal Aria 906’s for my main 2.0 setup. I definitely recommend the Outlaw 2160 if you are interested in it.
The SVS Ultras were on my short list but after some time researching, reading every review I could find, I went with the Focal 906’s and couldn’t be happier with them.
Focal is a French company and I know they are available in Canada so you should definitely demo them if you have a Hifi store close by that carries them.
Best of luck.
