Quick question....does the Outlaw 7700 require a 20A 115V feed? It has a 15A breaker on the back. Therefore, I see no need to rewire the house for a 20A circuit. Anyone got one of these?

Or I try for 7x Outlaw 2200 mono's. But I am not sure about the A/B/G power supply. Plus stacking 7 in a pile might not be good for heat dissippation. :D

Or what else is out there in the 200 to 300W per channel (@ 8 ohms) in this price range? 7 channel multi block perferred.

To answer your first question, no you don't need a 20A circuit if that Outlaw doesn't demand such a circuit. With that 15A in the back, it doesn't.

As to this list, what are the price for each of them? I know that the A500 is $180 each and will drive an 8 Ohm in bridged mode, lots of power.:D

Oh, yes, you don't want to stack amps unless you have plenty of space between them. :)

Outlaw 7700 $2000 USD
Outlaw 2000 (x7) $325 USD each ($2275 total USD)
Emptiva MPS-1 $2000 USD
AT 2007 (a little more expensive) $3000 USD
Behringer A500 (x7) $290 CND each ($2030 total CND) cheapest option

If anything it would be either the 7700 (professional looking) or the MPS-1 (I like the modular format. I could always pull 2 of the boards are use it as a 5 channel).

The 2000's do not have a power button, I do not like leaving amps in stand by, or using auto on.
The AT 2007 is too expensive.
Tha A500 is okay, except for the fact is have a volume know. And it has to be turned down before you turn the unit on or off.

Just my 2 pennies:
1.Lots of future moving (Outlaw 2000 or Behringer A5)
2.No future moves planned (Outlaw 7700 or Emptiva MPS-1)
3.Just want oohs and aahs from the wealthy (ATI 2000 )

Happy Hunting:)

Actually, this amp purchase would technically be a spare. I already have a set of Anthem MCA's. Unfortunately to go with more power is out of my price range. I just want something new to play with. I might pick up one of the Behringers. Bolt a set of speakers to the side. Bolt an MP3 or CD player on top. And make it into a portable CD player. :D

FYI

ATI manufacturers amps for Outlaw (7700 and 7500, not the monoblock)

the 2007 is an awesome amp, but not very different from the 7700. it has a fully balanced design that is supposed to be better for XLR inputs, but i haven't any so don't know for sure. nevertheless, it still sounds fabulous using RCA inputs. it runs cool and does not have any fan (hence no fan noise either)

you can sometimes find them for sale on audiogon or ebay.

i just bought a 1 year old AT2007 on audiogon for hundreds less than a new outlaw 7700, and it looks and sounds like new.

thx

That's two awesome systems that you have there. I personally favor your basement setup!
I have and Outlaw 770 amp that was made by ATI, no balanced inputs though. I have not listened to any ATI amps, but I'm sure they are great amps.

Cheers:)

If you have the Outlaw, then you ALREADY have listened to an ATI!!
i am very happy with my ATI amps. the company was originally SAE, then renamed as ATI. they are a large OEM manufacturer for other companies, including outlaw. RBH is another OEM speaker manufacturer before they started selling speakers under their own name.

the ATI amp is very clean and powerful. there are a couple for sale on audiogon now including a 2005 and 3007. the 3007 will need the special 20 amp circuit.

300 x 7 = 2100 watts. 120 x 15 = 1800 watts from a standard outlet. 120 x 20 = 2400 watts from the 20 amp.

( yes i know the all channels driven is not real world, but the basic math tells you that this amp is a monster).

i think its pretty cool that the ATI / outlaws are actually made here in the USA.

Emotiva on sale

If you use the link from the secrets of HT site, you can get the Emotiva 7 channel amp on sale for $1700. Hard to beat that price and performance level.

Hello, I have spent two years hence many hours deceiding which of these three amps to purchase along with the Rotel 1095.
To much information can detract from what the real issues are with any electronics.
I think that all of these amplifiers are great amps. It the personnel choice issue that I myself finally started to think about as well as performance and value. I mean let's face it, there are hundreds of amplifiers out there that are maybe better but cost a hell of a lot more than what we want to spend. However most of us on this forum are looking for the best piece of equipment for the best PRICE!!
The three pieces listed above have been on sale, best offers, and now specials like the one for Emotiva. What it boils down to is how much performance am I going to get for the money that I am putting out? The money is relative. If I am earning $500,000 a year and spending $10,000 for an amplifier that is not a lot of money. However most of us on this forum, I think are making perhaps a good income but not enough to spend $10,000 on an amplifier.
Don't laugh I saw a turntable at the Home Theater show last week that had a price tag of $99,500.
That is insane!!
My decesion for an amplifier to replace my Yamaha 3300 receiver was the Outlaw 7700/990 amplifier/processor. I was at the Home theater show and purchased these items as well as a set of balanced cables for an amizing price. Shipping was an issue, because of the HT show being in LAX, however I received a discount because I am an airline employee. The shipping costs were a mere $116.16, and I live on the East coast. The combo 7700/990 and the balanced cables came to $2489. WOWWWWW!!!
That being said, looking at the specs. and reading the forum threads on all of these units including the Rotel 1095 I think I made a good choice. Yes, the price did have something to do with it, but I feel that I have good quality and performace and confidence in these products to celebrate.

Thank to Everybody for your Help in making the final decesion!

I have the 990/7700 setup and it's damn nice; I think you will enjoy it very much. Make sure you have the latest firmware update; Outlaw just released an update for this Pre-Pro two weeks ago to resolve issues with bass-management and it also adds a couple of features - like you are now able to rename Audio Inputs, not just the Video inputs. As far as I know even the new 990's are not shipping with this update so you will need to do it yourself with a laptop & a USB or Serial cable.

One of the reasons I went with a Internet Direct setup was for the unparalled customer support such as listening to customers suggestions and problems and revising the software fto resolve the issues, free of charge and you don't have to send the unit back to the manufactor. You will NOT find this level of Customer Care with the big names out there.

I have the Outlaw 755 and would find it hard to "need" more power than 200 a channel unless your running full range floorstanders that eat power. With my mains run full range and the rest crossed over even on long loud concerts the 755 is barely breaking a sweat. You may want to reconsider getting a better 200w amp than a more powerful one.

Annnnd, unless you are playing a lot of 5.1 mastered hirez audio discs, you could get by with a very accurate 2 channel amp for the mains, a sweetend mono block for the center and a modest 2-4 channel for the rears. If you plan to be running in 2 channel mode for some critical listening, this may be your best option.

Cheers! Happy playing. I hope you don't plan on MOVING the Outlaw around, unless you have some friends with good backs ;)
