anyone out there have one of these? came into some unexpected cash and I'm looking to upgrade to separates. From the reviews I've seen, looks like nice stuff, but want to hear from the a-holic audience for their comments...possible combo with the 990 preamp...and LFM 1 sub.

I do not own the Outlaw 7125 , but do own several of their other models that have perfromed flawlessly in my HT. I found Outlaw to be one of the best values for amplifiers during my quest to upgrade. You might get better details from owners of the 7125 from Outlaw's own forums.

I can't speak on the quality of the 990, but the LFM-1 performed well in the review here on AH a while back.

Good luck on your search.

aspaceintime,

Outlaw has their own forum on their site. I saw someone had recieved one of these amps with a 990 pre/pro and posted their thoughts on it yesterday. I would try there until these get more common.

I can't help with the outlaw, but I was curious as to your thoughts on your sub? How do you think it compares to some of the other more popular brands discussed here?

This sub does a great job for the price. Its easy to build, my 17 yr-old son & I did it in an hour. My wife is always asking me to turn it down because the dishes rattle in the kitchen, my HT is in our finished basement.

I currently have a Yamaha3300 Receiver. Looked into the idea of having seperates. Looked at a number of different amps and deceided that Outlaw for the money and the quality is a good bargin. I had a rotel demo in my house (had to just about bribe the salesman to let me demo the amp) sounded great looked impressive but had a prce tag of $500.00 more than I wanted to spend, and that was comparing it to the Outlaw 7 channel amplifier. I could save $1000.00 if I purchase the Outlaw 5 channel. Right now I have 1-1/2 weeks to go before I have to make a deceision as to whether I am going to keep the 770 Outlaw. The specs are just as impressive as any other high end amplifier that I looked into without having to rob a bank. The only reason I might send it back is that Outlaw is coming out with a new amplifier soon at 200watts per channel with two amps as the power source instead of one, splitting the work load.
At any rate in my own opinion, Outlaw puts out a great product that is affordable. there is nothing to be ashamed of by having any of there pieces in your electornic line up.
Every year my friend and I go to the Home Theater Show and have our fantasies of spending money on what we want no matter what the expense. Outlaw makes that fantasy a Reality.

I have that Amp

I am using it with the 970 though, not the 990 and I have been more than happy with the improvement over my Yamaha 1500. I have had it for only two weeks and I have been making my way through my CD collection again because it really is like hearing them again for the first time; I had no idea what I was missing.

I really wanted the 990 but it is big, too big to fit in my present AV rack unless I place it on the top shelf. The 4-zone bass management is very nice but now that all 5 of my speakers are matched (LCR's) I don't need this feature. I wish the 970 allowed you to rename you inputs like the 990 or my 1500 did. It has plenty of features but so did my 1500, I upgraded for the sound quality and have not been disappointed.

Check out the Outlaw Website Owners Forums; a wealth of information for the prospective buyer can be found there, they have comparison charts between the 970 and 990 and other Outlaw products.

Outlaw is very responsive to user needs and problems. About two weeks ago a couple of users were reporting problems with the 970 & "white flashes" on some types of displays. After a couple of owners reported this problem Outlaw immediately formed teams here in the States and in Asia to investigate this problem; they were able to re-produce the problem and had a software fix download on their Website for this problem within a week. Another good feature with the Outlaw Pre/Pros, like many today, is the RS-232 & USB (990) port for applying this software fixes. Outlaw listens to its customers and takes their suggestions and problem seriously.
