I've been looking at purchasing a new a/v receiver and have checked out the usual suspects Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, etc. I came across the outlaw 1070 and it looks impressive. Nice features and they claim real power. You can only buy this receiver on line and thats where the problem lies. Does anyone have any experience with the receivers? Also are they a good a/v receiver because they are missing a few features many of the others are offering.

Hope someone can shine some light.

I just got a Yamaha HTR-5890 and I would say it would match or better the Outlaw based on what I have heard hear on the forums.

The biggest beef I have with the Outlaw, it uses DVI instead of HDMI.

Sound quality should be about the same with either receiver. I have always had good luck with Yamaha so that is my bias as long as it has all the features you want.

Based on sound quality, features???
The SQ of my Yamaha is the best I have had in my home and I have had seperates before. I used to have a 5 channel Carver amp (av-505) and I used a Onkyo TX-DS787 as a pre/pro. I had also used the Onkyo as a receiver before I got the Carver and it doesn't rival the Yamaha on power, features, or processing abilities.

A can't say on the Outlaw personally, but I can say my Yamaha kicks some serious tail.
