This site's dope!

Anybody familiar with the Outlaw 1070? My concern is running my sub through the pre-out. My sub (Def Tech Pro 200TL) has a built-in crossover...so maybe no compromise!? Maybe! Who knows?

For versatility issues, would I be better off looking for something with a Sub/LFE output built in to the receiver. Not really looking for your typical, mass-produced, brick and mortar type receiver.

Any recommendations? Under $1,200 USD.

You'll be much better off using the crossover built into the receiver. The crossover on the subwoofer might not nearly be as accurate. Plus, if you used the crossover on the sub, you'd be supplying the full frequency range to your front speakers - which may not be the best move.

What speakers are you using for your main speakers?

Uhh.... the Outlaw 1070 has 7.1 preouts, and included is the .1 or the subwoofer output. It also has a better than average x-over in it.

Fronts are JBL ND310. Thanks T2T...that's what I'm thinking.

Uhhh!

I'm no whiz, but where can I find the LFE output on the 1070...there's no built-in crossover for the sub (every channel BUT .1). Unless I misread! Anybody using the 1070 with 5.1?

You misread:) , the Sub pre out is after the receiver's crossover is applied. So you connect that to your sub and disengage its crossover. Then it all works

On the Website when you select the gallery for the 1070 click on the rear panel "see it huge" The sub out is with the Pre-outs, because a sub-out is a preamplifier output. The x-over is activated in the menu.
