Doing some christmas dreaming... I would like to set up an outdoor listening area, likely used primarily for radio listening but would like the ability to move into streaming from my downstairs system (denon 2312 backbone).

Should I get a new 'brain', I was thinking of something that I could put in the milk door:D or set up a seperate zone and use a radio remote or perhaps the network connection remote via wi-fi. (that will require a network booster :/)

What do you guys think?

I just use zone two from my main system and use an IR repeater, with an IR sensor in the patio ceiling, to control everything.

I just use some cheap $49 speakers out there and they work great and have been in use for 5 years.

The only potential issue may be the fact that you need a display outside to really "see" what you are controlling.

hmmmm, I was wondering about getting an RF remote for my equipment after my reno that I am planning. I did not know about IR repeaters. I will have to look into it.

I am liking the repeater idea, especially the one you linked. I will need one with dual receivers. One for outside and one for my main listening area. Two things;

1. I am just curious about tough the receivers are, the outside receiver will have to endure high temperature in the summer (35C + direct sun) and -30C in winter. Will direct sunlight interfere? I am sure I can devise something for that:D

2. I am in southern ontario, need to find where to get what I need.

By "dual receivers" what do you mean? You just a MSU inside.

Nothing will be outside except the IR sensor.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I will need the two sensor inputs.

Just the one sensor will be outside, I was just worrying about the direct sunlight causing interference to the sensor. Just recalling old electronics that wouldn't accept remote signals when in direct sunlight.

Sorry for the confusion, my brains are a little mushed right now but I do have a good excuse!

I was thinking more of this for my situation, easier to get out of the sunlight. Now it is just the shipping that is a concern. I will send an email and find out the details.
