I am in need of an outdoor speaker volume controller that can accept 12 awg speaker wire.
From what I have seen online they all say that they can support up to 14 awg wire.

Does anyone know where I could get an outdoor volume control that supports up to 12 awg wire?

And if not does anyone know if there is a way that I could some how make the 12 awg wire fit the box.
Thanks

Have you looked into AudioPlex Technology? I've got one on my patio, but it's been 3 years since I installed it, and I can't find the specs. Here is a link to their website, but I can't find anything about speaker wire capacity.

I'm thinking that I used 12 gauge wire, but I wouldn't swear to it. I do remember things being pretty tight, so if I used 14 gauge, then I doubt 12 gauge would work. Sorry for the lack of details, but I figured I would throw it out there.

You can use a stripper that has several hole sizes to trim some of the strands. I use a Gardner Bender like the one in the link. I used the regular black steel ones with the red grips for years but I decided to try the one that states it can be used for cutting steel wires. The others weren't and I usually needed a new one every year. Just use the 14AWG hold and it'll cut the strands cleanly.

I think maybe because a 14 gauge wire can support over 200 watts... I can't imagine your need for 12 Gauge wire for outdoor use... lol

I ended up going with the 14 awg wire. I purchased CL3 grade 4 conductor wire to go from my amplifier to my volume control box, and then from there I purchased CL3 grade 2 conductor 14 awg wire to go to my speakers.

What kind of volume control did you go with?
