Im having a big 30ft x 20 ft patio build and cant decide whether to install 4 in ceiling speakers like the polk RC80i or do two Definitive Technology AW6500 outdoor speakers next to the TV. Will be hooking the speakers up to a new sonos amp

Hi! I would not choose in ceiling speakers for any situation unless I was going for an inexpensive "background" music solution.

The Def Techs seems a little pricey for what they are, here are some JBL's on sale: https://www.jbl.com/loudspeakers/CONTROL+X.html?dwvar_CONTROL X_color=Black-USA-Current&cgid=loudspeakers#start=1

This model won't have quite as much bass, but when you're outdoors, it is very difficult to get good bass with out alot of power anyway, so the difference may not even be noticeable!

- It depends on your goal. If you only desire sound in a portion of the 30 x 20 large space, like near a TV screen, then the two Def Techs make more sense.
- If you desire sound throughout most of the space, then four ceiling speakers make more sense.
- IMHO, outdoor patios are more for background sound and a party atmosphere, so with all due respect to Warrior, I would opt for the four ceiling solution.

I've just never enjoyed the 'sound coming from above' experience of in ceiling speakers. So that is something for Jbiffle to explore!

I kinda liked those speakers (no idea what brand) that looked like rocks. Never owned any but they sure looked cool. :)
