I have six JBL 29AV-1 speakers and the matching sub. I researched a lot of outdoor speakers and listened to several, and I felt the JBL's were superior for my purposes to any others I considered. I wanted to be able to play music at reasonably loud decibel level and not sacrifice clarity 50-75 feet away from the house for summer parties and for when we're just outside hanging out or working in the garden. The downside is yes they are large, but that wasn't a problem for my applications. You don't need the sub with the 29AV-1's. They are large and expensive, but they can produce accurate and loud music if needed. I've used one pair out in front of my house for a month playing Christmas music to go along with the lights and they performed beautifully in some pretty rough weather too without any trouble.
