Am a super beginner at this. Want to set up a system that will play CDs, radio and MP3s (mostly downloaded MP3) to outside speakers both in the front and back of the house. Needs to be able to select front of house, back of house or both. Speaker wire is prewired to a media closet. Closet contains CAT 5e, RG6 and of course electric. I don't want to control any video, just audio. Would like to be able to access or transfer my audio collection already on my computer. Computer has high speed cable modem (don't know that this makes any difference in what I am trying to do). Don't Need to control any video. What is the easiest and/or cheapest way to do this?

Outdoor sound

A stereo receiver or amp should do the trick with a couple impedence matching volume control for the front and back locations.

How do you plan to integrate with your existing sound system, CD player, and PC? Is it an indepentent system, play the same source as the main system, or play a different source?

I use a Niles speaker selector(controls up to 6 pairs of speakers), this is connected to the "B" speaker on the back of my receiver and I will have 3 sets of outside speakers(only 2 at this time though)...seems to work just fine. Also have a Niles weatherproof volume control for the deck speakers which comes in very handy...wish I had a remote control set up for this too! I plan to run a cable from the PC soundcard to the receiver(apprx. 50 ft) to enjoy tunes on the hard drive and also Pandora...I believe all I need to do this is the cable that has the mini pluig on one end and 2 RCA jacks on the other?

I have found Niles products to be very reliable for outdoor use as I have been using their products for over 4 years now with no problems at all...I do bring the speakers in during the winter though.

...you are sufficiently distant from you nearest neighbors so as to not make them a captive audience to your taste in music or noise, as the case might be...
