Out with the Old, In with the New

As we all know, we always have to try to match the mains to the center so after looking around I settled on the Wharfedale Diamond 9 CM center. Here are some pics of the old with the new and what I'm planning.

The old center speaker

Newly arrived Wharfedale Diamond 9 CM center

From side. Its HUGE and I love it

Making new stand. as you can see the old stand will not do now so I have to be creative. The old stand is going to be the backbone of the new AV rack that I'm going to do after this small project. You can see the old rack at the far end.

Center speakers stand cost too much here. Just as much as the speaker itself so I decide to make one myself.

I'm using plexi glass and putting laminated floor board under the plexi for support.

I found these that use for stair rails to use as legs. I couldnt find short turning screws so I had to buy a long one and cut them

the round wood for hight. 4.5 cm in diameter. I would have wanted 6 cm but I couldnt get.

For know the finish product is just in my head. I hope it looks good as it does in my head.
I will post the finish product when it is complete.

Cool project and nice upgrade. What is the old Center? The 9.CM should match very nicely with the EVO's. I have run mine with both the EVO 30's and now my EVO2 50's and it matches very well. I really think the soft dome mid really helps with voices. It never sounds tinny or muffled.

I picked up my center stand on eb*y for less than 40 bucks but I think yours with the glass top and brass parts is way more stylish. Make sure to post pics of the finished product and maybe some of your whole room.

Cheers,

Craig

Yeah i'm looking forward to the 9.CM's full performance when I have my new receiver. the old center was a Pioneer center. I still use rears of that speaker. they are good and rears do not really have to much the mains.

So far it has costed my about 40€ to make the stand and some of the by products of that cost will be used in doing other stuff. The most costly of the parts are the brass stand. I will definately post the final work when its complete. I will post some pics later of the hall when I have this setup well.
