Sheesh. I wasn't on another forum similar to this one for 4 days and I've already been banned as a spammer, had 75% of my posts deleted, and been told that objective data is useless and that anechoic measurements are impossible to duplicate and that that they have no meaning for in room response.

I know this isn't surprising to anyone, but c'mon. I thought it would have been a little longer. Especially since I got banned 2nd day.

Heck, I'm surprised I've made it this long at AH, what with the furries thread and all :D

I guess that forum is not about discussing ideas but to comfort and support the believers, it seems.

I guess the EPA car mileage chart is useless then. and, a few others.

It was home theater forum. I really only joined because whatever they use to host their forum isn't banned by my school's web filter.

It's one of their senior members as well who writes reviews for them. Here are a few quotes of posts he made in response to me.

I don't plan on providing "hard facts" in my review of what I have.
There is no way to duplicate anechoic room response. My room is different than his room, so my frequency plot would be different. Hard facts are pointless to try and get, period.

...

And the real reason hard facts are tough to come by...

Does anybody here know how tight the production tolerances are with Axiom? Do they test every single driver? Do they "return/throw away" all the ones outside 5% tolerance? Do they have a 10% tolerance? Do they test every 5th? Every 20th?

What?
Robert_J. I know maybe 1% of what he knows about subwoofers. I don't care to know how to actually design a driver. Why this winding of a coil makes a difference over another way. Why over and under hung is better/worse for a given application. I care not. I have built my own subwoofers going by a basic design. Build a perfectly square box...that fits the driver. How many drivers out there will that box work for? Probably 90% of them.

...

Speakers, however, is my forte. Put me in a room with 6 different speakers...and I'll name which ones are playing.

Sounds more like a case of the reviewer being utterly incapable of delivering hard facts and trying to defend that position. Fortunately, he's been involved with HT since before the "center channel", so his opinion should be more than good enough :p

I have about 11K posts over there. Been a member for a long time. Used to be a great place. About a year ago one of the owners emailed me and asked why I don't frequent there anymore and what they could do to get people back. I tend to gravitate toward hardware and their hardware forums are slow.

Definitely a bit slow. Schan kinda rubbed me the wrong way since the his first post interacting with me completely dismissed measurements by the end user or really measurements of any kind (concerning speakers that is). Well, that and his reasoning of "I've been doing this a long time and I said so."

At least it lets me pass the time since I can't get on AH :D
