I recently picked up a pair of Def Tech SM55’s for $100 to use as surrounds with the $100 pair of BP2004 TL’s I also snagged. I have a CLR2500 from a previous system and the Def Tech system’s only purpose is for secondary use in my bedroom. I was reading reviews about them and came across this review as well as 3 others claiming bi-wiring really opened them up. I use 12/4 KnuKonceptz Kable for my mains and center channel as I really like the cosmetics of the wire but don’t believe for a second that biwiring them makes a difference. Upon reading the reviews I listened to the same tracks the reviewer did, using a similar source (iTunes through a MacBook Pro) and neither myself nor 3 other friends could tell when they were bi-wired in a blind comparison. Why do you guys think websites publish this stuff? If Emotiva and Def Tech want to start sending me review products I’ll tell everyone I can and scream it from the rooftops that bi-wiring shows the true potential of your speakers! Never mind the scientific measurements that prove otherwise!

Because most guys are clueless, don't ask directions, don't read manuals, that sort of thing? Audio does have some very entertaining bullshit to observe/play with, tho.

Haha! Part of me always wants to believe they’re right. But I’m always let down with the results. It’s like going on a blind date and on the drive there you still believe your friends that she’s beautiful and brilliant but a small part of you says “But what if she’s a toad person?” And than you walk into the restaurant and she is indeed...a toad person:

I would think bi amping along with active crossovers may help a poorly designed speaker but then why not buy a well designed speaker to begin with?
Linkwitz is probably the exception to the rule but I don’t want PVC, rubber hose and hose clamps no matter how good it sounds! Maybe he could license it to Salk for a proper design?
