OSD with HDMI-In or Component-In

So why is it that receivers can't show the OSD when they have an HDMI or Component source selected. Or is that just Onkyo? I'm looking for a receiver that can display changes I make (like turning up the volume or others) on the OSD when I have an HDMI source selected.
Thanks!

I just searched through the Pioneer 1018 manual ('cause I had it handy), and I didn't find any notes about restrictions on the OSD. I don't know about the other brands, but this might give you hope. You can always check the owners manuals, most of which are available on the manufacturer websites.

I did and I'm sure about Onkyo, pretty sure about Denon, I don't remember Pioneer. The problem for me with Pioneer is that I would need to get the Pioneer VSX-94, because it's the only one with 4 HDMI-INs. But then there is the issue with the price....
Does anybody know if there are new Pioneers coming out some time?
Thanks

Actually I just researched a bunch and found out that Denon works too. This way I can get the 2309 or the 2808 (probably). Thanks for the help!

Adam, I noticed that you have a Pioneer receiver and have a quick question for you. I am torn between the Yamaha 663 and Pioneer 1018, but was wondering how the heat issues are on your 1015. I want to put the receiver on an open tv stand with lots of room to the sides and back, but there is a glass shelf that will be probably only 2 inches above the receiver . It is the shelf that holds my Blu-Ray and is not adjustable. In your opinion, do you think I will have heat issues? The picture of the receiver looks like it has poor vent holes. I have heard that the 663 puts out less heat. I will use the receiver for HD TV and DVD's only, no PS3/Wii etc. Thanks for any imput.
