I'm always morbidly curious about how the Oscars come out. One of my favorites of the year The Tree of Life has a couple nominations, but, I presume, zero chance of actually getting any, due to the large number of angry "walk-outs" and the fact that half of the people that saw it didn't understand it.
Another favorite, The Artist, has several nominations, but will they give awards to a silent, black and white film with a cast that's mostly unknown?
Another favorite of the year, Midnight In Paris, seems like it should get several, but IT was authored and directed by Woody Allen, who has been in exile for some years. Can they invite him back to the club with some awards?
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was excellent but also too dark and verged on torture porn...probably no awards.
If these movies can't get any awards (can they...I don't know), then what's left?
The Descendants and War Horse. They don't have anything or anybody that will offend, they're good and they're American. Put your money on George Clooney and Stephen Speilberg, safe bets.
