Ordered Another TSC T250

I recently replaced the Velodyne VX-10 in my bedroom with a T250 and have been mostly satisfied. The only real issue is that it would not power up in auto mode. I'm not sure if it's a T250 issue or a piece of junk receiver issue but suspect the latter. Anyway just for grins I moved it into my office today. I tested it there before but really didn't give it a chance.

I got her all hooked up and although way more powerful (gain at 1/2 and receiver set to -10db) than I need for that little space it just sounded so darn good tucked into the little cubbyhole that's the only space I had available that I didn't have the heart to move it back to the bedroom... so I now have another on order for the bedroom. :D These little subs are growing on me. :D

It looks like my Christmas present to myself will be a refurb Onkyo 606 or equivalent for the bedroom.

Congrats. How is the T250, i've been meaning to buy that but nobody has really bought it? What are your pros/cons based on what you've heard?

Well bear in mind that I'm not using it for my main listing room so I can't really say much about how it would do with movies. Also keep in mind that I'm spoiled by a monster SVS that scares the heck out of my dog every time I do watch a video.

I'm using the T250 in my office where I do about half of my music listing. It does that job really well. The second T250 will go in the master bedroom. I would have liked a PB10 NSD in there but I just don't watch enough movies from bed to justify $500 (w/shipping). The T250 will do fine in that roll.

On the pro side:
  • Bang for the buck. They have a lot of power for the money.
  • It goes plenty low for most music. I tested this out with various Marcus Miller cuts and with Soul Ballet's Trip The Night Fantastic both of which have lots of deep bass and it did a good job with both.
Cons:
  • Very directional. You really want to be within 45 degrees or so of the centerline of the sub.
  • I'm told (but have not measured) that they drop off 6db from 28 to 23hz. That would explain why they don't quite shake the room during movie explosions. Of course I'm spoiled by a PB12 Plus/2 in my family room. :D

BTW there was a lengthy thread on AVSForums complete with measurements.
