Hello Everyone,
I am looking to finish my 5.1 setup. Due to lack of room for side speakers I am forced to go with a micro sattelite speaker. I have been looking at some round sattelites from a few companies. I have read and read all the info. I could find on the net about three manufacturers in particular and they all get very good reviews-of course which makes a decision more complicated. The problem is that I cannot demo any of them in my area. These surrounds will be temporary until I move and have a better HT room (could be a year or two). If anyone has any expierence with Orb Audio, Morel or Anthony Gallo round sattelites I would love to hear your opinions. Maybe there other options as far as manufactureres go. Thanks everyone.

Orb speakers

The Orb mod 2 speakers got a pretty good review on this site.

They should perform much better than Bose cubes, but won't keep up with many 2-way bookshelf speakers. Since you plan to move, in-wall or in-ceiling speakers are probably not a good options. You would be able to take the orbs with you for use in a study or dinning room.

Thanks for taking the time to help me JcPanny. I have read all about Orb and the others I mentioned. I know the real way to determine is to demo each but this is not possible. It seems that this type of speaker is inexpensive cosidering what I have spent for my other speakers and sub. I have yet to find a bad review for all three I am looking at. Thanks again.

My buddy has the Gallo's in his small HT they sound excellent, I went back for a closer listening session and was hooked. I ended up buying the Gallo HTIB with the micros, I should have them this Friday (I'll post as soon as I can) I'm still getting the Orbs for my kitchen and room system.

Good luck it's a tough choice!

Satellite speakers

What are your other front speakers?
You will get the best performance from matching surrounds. Several manufactuers have a dipole or bipole type speakers that hang above the listeners on the side walls.

I have a Paradigm setup. Fronts Studio 100's, CC-470, sub PS-1000 all V.3. I have no room for studio 20's or ADP's. I am considering down sizing all together and going with one of these micro systems but I am petrified that the sound will make me very unhappy. The 100's and the 470 are big in stature. I am very confused about what to do. I figured in the mean time let me get some speakers to complete the 5.1 setup. Hey Stratman please post your full opinion of the Gallos when you get a chance. Thanks

Look into the KEF3005 setup. One of the better "small" 5.1 systems I have heard.

Take a look at the Klipsch Cinema 10 system. One of the few small systems that gets it right for dynamics and doesn't have much of a gaping hole in the midbass. It also gets loud and is damned smooth. I've put a bunch of them in for clients and every single one is absolutely thrilled. You can buy the sats/center separately. Killer reviews too.

Thanks Stratman, please do. I actually purchased the Orb Mod2's for my sides in my 5.1 setup. I won't have them untill the end of this coming week. If you want send me a private message to let me how the Gallo's sound. I am contemplating between the Gallo's or the Orbs for a second 5.1 setup. Thanks

Stratman, can you describe your full system?

Regarding the thread, I have a bedroom 2.1 setup using two AG micro (old series, not the titanium ones). These two are helped with the AG mps subwoofer.

This is the only problem with those round speakers: lack of decent bass. Mine are crossedover at 120hz, which is plenty forward. Besides that, they are awesome: clean sound, very detailed even at small volumes, with a slight bias for bright sound, however. And are candies for the eye, of course.

Well I am planning to do a HT setup in my basement. I have wired it for a 7.1 set up on the ceiling. I move alot so I sure want some small speakers that look good(wife rules out any big speakers). Another hurdle is that this is also a family room with a fireplace.. Orb sounds good but I guess I need to order to order two extra speakers to go with it. Or the otherone is offered with a receiver I am not thrilled about. SO any of you have suggestions for me? Thanks I appreciate it.
