Im trying to decide whether a DLP HDTV or a plasma would be my best bet. I can get the Optoma at wholesale prices, so i'm leaning that way. But would $2500 buy be a comparable plasma ?

I too was interested in the 65" Optomas a couple of months ago. I don't remember my exact reasons, but for some reason the RD65A came out as my best pick. It is discontiinued I guess, but you might still be able to pick it up at visual apex for $1999, but you will probably have to call them to find out. Add a ISF calibration, and I think you would probably have a killer TV for sub-$2500.

Note: I'm pretty sure the optomas are using the 2nd generation DLP chip, as opposed to the 3rd or 4th. I don't know if that is important to you, but it is something to keep in mind.

I have since turned my focus to LCoS, more specifically the JVC HD-ILA displays. I think they look amazing, and actually being able to see the TV before I buy it is reassuring.
