Hi Friends,
I am also facing similar issue, I got a new Optoma HD20 and after 15 mins of usage it shut down by itself and the bulb light turned red and power light keeps blinking amber.
The user manual says if the bulb light turns red call up the nearest service center, my problem is the PJ is bought in US and I brought it to India so sending it back to US is going to be difficult and optoma doenst give international warranty.
One thing I noticed was when I switch on the PJ.. it works fine till the time the fan inside it runs continously at the normal speed... after 10-12 mins the fan gets hick ups..i.e it would run for a few seconds at normal speed and then for another few couple of seconds with reduced speed and that continues for a min or so only after that everything turns blank the pj shuts down and half a min after that the bulb light turns red and it wont start back until it cools down that takes 10 mins and the whole thing continues.
Can it be a fan issue? I am guessing if it was why would fan run at normal speed everytime i start ? also the PJ gets hot is it normal for a DLP PJ to get hot?
Can reseting the bulk timer help in my case? how will i be able to see it and change it? or can you guys suggest any other alternative things i can do ?
PS - I can find some one who can carry it back to US and get it repaired by Optoma under warrany but then its not too easy for me to find some one who can carry it for me :-(
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks
Regards,
Naren
I hate Optoma quality control - or I should say "lack of".
A few years ago I bought the Optoma flagship HD81-LV. I had to return that thing to Optoma 3 different times!!!
It had the same issues you described.
And each time, it was the same MAIN BOARD issues, even though they replaced the main board each time.
I was told to unplug the PJ from the wall outlet for 24 hrs to reset the main board. However, that did not work. So I had to return it to Optoma. It worked for 6 months, then the same thing happened again. And Again.
If it is under warranty, Optoma should pay for the return shipping back to you. Call their Customer support, which is very good.
