The Z2 has known service issues. It was poorly designed which causes overheating to many units and the failure of an LCD panel.

Sanyo has been less than responsive in correcting this issue for many owners.

If you plan to watch a fair bit of HD television and upgrade to HD disc players and perhaps a HD gaming system, then I would find a way to get, at the very least, a Sanyo Z3 or Panny AE700U, both of which don't have the issues that the Z2 does have.

Otherwise, the InFocus SP4805 or Optoma H31 (or H27) are both excellent models. They just don't carry the resolution that you may really want to have down the road.

Read specs, info, and reviews at Projector Central if you haven't already.

I'm not too familiar with the z2, but I do own the h31. I really like it for it being as cheap as it is. The fan can be loud, but there are two settings for it, normal and high altitude. Normal being fairly quiet and HA being louder. I leave mine on HA and during a movie I really don't notice it. The 4805 as mentioned is slightly louder. It does have kind of an odd throw angle that some have complained about, but that's just something to keep in mind when it's time to mount it. Yes it may be a lower res, but it accepts high def. and looks good. Also some have had issues with using a HTPC with the h31, but I believe the newer models seem to work. Depending on how low end you're going that's probably not going to be an issue anyways.
