I actually sent an email to the person in regards to the IR4PS3 remote and he says that he is working on trying to get things moving more forward with the project spending more time doing business related stuff at this point instead of design related issue and working with Logitech to get some things taken care of.

I'm hopeful that he will return to the RemoteCentral.com forums shortly to give a status update of what is going on as it seems that there are many people who are interested in that option... myself included.

There's an article on the IR4PS3 here, http://www.remotecentral.com/articles/ir4ps3_full_function_ir_remote.htm.
Unfortunately, it's not exactly available yet. The developer's email address, ir4ps3@hotmail.com, was at the end of the article. It says he's interested in gauging interest in the product.
Yeah, I read that one too. Just forgot to include it in the links. Surely one of these companies, or better yet, one of the more reputable manufacturers can come up with a viable IR solution that can perform the 50+ operations of the PS3 bluetooth remote.

Possibly the least expensive option:

http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=113

That is unless by FULLY control, you mean turn on and off....
The problem with the Nyko option is that you not only loose the ability to turn the PS3 on & off, which isn't that important, but you loose many of the functions for watching dvd's and Blu-ray's. Ie. control for subtitles, audio options, display (can use [select]), the pretty row of colored buttons , etc
