Hello all, I have a samsung smart tv, i'm trying to hook up my surround sound. My 2 audio output options on the tv are the headphone jack and the optical audio jack. My surround sound only accepts RCA. I purchased the $9 headphone jack to RCA conversion cable from best buy and it works. My question is; is it worth buying the $30 optical to RCA conversion cable? Will I notice that much of a difference?
thanks for your help

Welcome to the forum!

The possible benefit to the converter would be for surround sound, but that depends on what your surround sound system can handle. What surround sound system do you have? I'm asking that so that we can check out its connections, and honestly because at least one person has missed that their system actually can use an optical input.

Gotcha. So, you only have left/right RCA audio inputs on that (I know you knew that...now I do, too :)). IMO, there would be no benefit to spending extra on the optical-to-RCA converter.
