My DVD player crapped out on me - a heard a small " pop " and get no sound now. I'm simply running my DVD player through my TV. I tried different DVDs, replaced the RCA cables, played around with the audio settings, etc. If I turn the TV all the way up while the DVD is playing it's barely audible. Is the a bitstream to RCA cable adapter so I can try running the DVD player audio thrugh bitstream to the TV ?

A coaxial digital audio cable looks the same as the analog audio cables and they both have RCA connectors. However, you cannot use the digital audio out of the dvd player (optical or coaxial) to connect to the analog inputs on the tv. The tv will be trying to interpret the signal as a regular analog signal. If you get any sound at all, it will pure noise.

TV's don't do digital/analog conversions.

You might try hooking up the analog (red/white) audio outputs of your DVD to the corrosponding inputs of your TV. It stands to reason that this should be in the same input gtoup that the DVD's video signal is being sent to the TV.
