alrighty, heres another question for you geniuses (seriously, you guys/girls make it too easy for me). i have been kicking around the idea of upgrading my oppo to a 93 or a 95, mostly to future proof and also to get the best possible sound for 5.1 music. is there a way to set up my future oppo and my denon AVR 4311CI so that the denon picks up the video from HDMI and the audio from the 7.1 rca? i know you can do either/or but how about both together? it would be great to pop in a blu-ray and have the audio be off of the 7.1 inputs rather than the HDMI audio.

That's a good question, but I don't think you have to do anything as I do think it outputs audio simultaneously, at least my 83SE does. The 7.1 channel input is a separate audio input on the receiver also so I suppose if you are using monitor out, video should be passed through regardless of using that audio input.

John answered your question already. So yes you can do it but I would stick with HDMI so as to take advantage of the 4311's Audyssey XT32. However, if you believe you can hear the difference between DACs then you should go with the 95 that has much better DACs in terms of specs. The specs of the 93's DACs are not much better than those of the 4311's. On the other hand if you can't hear the difference between those DACs (I can't) then save $500 and go with the 93. That's what I would have been if I had known better.
