I'm new to forum and would appreciate recommendations on connecting a Oppo 105 to my current system in order to maximize its video and audio performance. My Pioneer Elite receiver needs replacing so I understand I can consider an amp or another receiver. A receiver seems like overkill in that the 105 offers processing capabilities superior to AVRs costing twice as much! I hope to capture the audio processing benefits of the 105 for both physical play as well as other music sources such as Apple TV output, computer files, etc. but am unsure how to connect to make that happen since I also want the video processing capabilities. I'm a novice so please keep it simple!:)Thanks!!!!

Current System: Pioneer Elite 50" Plasma, ML Montage Fronts, ML Vignette Center, ML Passage Surround, ML Grotto Sub, Pioneer Elite VSX84 Receiver, Samsung BluRay Player

@Curtis9 Hi!

Are you intending to use the 105 as a strictly 2 channel system? Your profile shows surround sound, and if that be the case, I am sorry to inform you that you paid too much and should have bought the 103.

While I think the 105 receives minor video upgrades, its the audio section of the 105 that has been upgraded. But you will only appreciate that if using the 2 channel DAC's that you paid for, that also allow the 105 to function as a 2ch preamp.

Oppo has made waves in the market due to their build quality and use of top quality components while selling at less than average prices. The 103 is almost a steal! The 105 is brilliant, but you must understand that it excels for 2 ch stereo.

Otherwise just use an HDMI cable, and enjoy!
