Hi all. I just joined this group. I am interested in home theater and found the forums interesting and have a few questions.
I recently bought an oppo bdp-95 and connected it to a mitsubishi hc3000 for video. For audio it's connected to an Audible Illusion M3a pre-amp, and Aragon 8008bb amp driving B&W803N front spkrs. A Marantz mono block powers the center channel speaker. A velodyne hg10 sub plays the low end.

For the first 2 weeks i used it as a CD player and the sound was and still is great. Better than my Marantz or Meridian 506-24. I then tried playing some dvd movie discs. Initially the video through the mit hc300 using a new HDMI 1.4 cable was also great. After about 2weeks getting a video image became more difficult. It is now at the point where I cannot get any dvd images or setup menus from either the Mit hc3000 or the OPPO. At first I thought the new HDMI v1.4 cable was bad so I tried a component cable that has worked for the last 8 years with a Marantz dv-12S1 and the Mit hc3000 and had the same problem. I would appreicate any ideas or suggestions to correct this problem.
Thanks,
Henry Rancourt

If it were the HDMI cable, you would most likely get no picture. If you have another display device, try the Oppo on that then you can either eliminate or confirm that it is the issue. Same with the projector - if you have a spare DVD player around, try that and if you have the same problem, then it is the projector.

Thanks for the reply. However, when I turn on the mit hc3000 it projects the mitsubisho logo in full color and that makes me think the projector is OK. Also I replaced the hdmi v1.4 cable with a good component cable, as a test, and the problem still exists? I don't have another working dvd device to connect to the mit hc3000. Thats why I bought the oppo. I have sent a message to oppo product support hoping they can help. In the meantime I will take the projector to a local audio store for testing

The fact that it did it on both component and HDMI would make me think it is the Oppo also. Just because the projector displays an internal image correctly doesn't necessarilly mean it is properly handling incoming signal though.
