Hello all. I am currently a masters student studying product design. For my masters creative work thesis I am redesigning the home theater speaker. What I would love is to hear from you all what it is that you like and dislike about the current home theater 5.1, 6.1 etc home theater speaker. Because most of us are fitting more and more speakers into allready existing rooms, ie: living room, den, family room, the choice of home theater speakers is important.

Just let me know how happy you all are with the current offerings that the manufacturers are sending our way. Everything from the cheapo sony home theater in a box type setup to the more expensive M&K or Boston Accoustic type satelites with subwoofers.

I am mostly talking about appearances too (not sound). Let me know if you think they are interacting with your environments well. How they look on there own. Should they look like speakers? Should they look different and how.

Thank you all and I look forward to hearing some great opinions,
Kyle

Interesting project, good luck with it. For me there are two products that stand out in the crowd for designs I like and mix well into existing environments. Both happen to be Definitive Technologies speakers and I've never owned any of their products. The are:

The Mythos line:

http://www.definitivetech.com/loudspeakers/mythos/mythos.html

And the ProCinema line:

Not only do they sound good they look better than most "boxes" placed in a room.
