Opinions on Superior HiFi (Online Dealer)

Hi All,

Recently I made a post on recommendations for ceiling speakers and have decided on the Sonance 831dr's. Now, I've been browsing online for the best price and found then for a good deal on superiorhifi.com. I know sometimes that the prices are too good to be true, and have had my own experiences with 'shady' online dealers.

I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to purchase from superior hifi and what the experience was like (good or bad)? Anyways, thanks in advance.

Cheers,
ScKaSx

Check with Sonance to make sure that superiorhifi.com is an authorized on-line retailer.

Why even worry about such an issue, when you can get superior quality from Audioholics with MB Quart?
I understand your confusion, why in the world would someone be interested in a 3-way 8" design with all three speakers independently pivoting from one of the industry leaders in in-wall/ceiling designs...

Especially for 40% less!

Makes no sense to me. :)

Really, I have no idea about this store and they aren't listed on resellerratings.com which isn't bad or good for that store.

My guess is that they are not authorized for Sonance online sales considering the prices they are listing, but that doesn't mean that you won't get a quality product from them either.

You might want to try to give them a call if you are concerned about them, and I would not expect them to be willing to take returns/exchanges without issue. Perhaps a 10%+ restocking fee if that concerns you or is something you are considering. This would be 'typical' though since the store likely would have that same fee passed on to them.

Doesn't mean they are better. I would imagine, probably not. Bose is industry leading, no?

Unauthorized dealer. No warranty. Are you sure it makes no sense to you?

Audioholics is an authorized dealer for MB Quart, and anyone who owns MB Quart will tell you that you get more than what you pay for. Truly, an exceptional loudspeaker company.

I can understand that somone wants what they want, but there is no need to purchase anything in such a manner.

No, you and I both know the Bose is not industry leading and they aren't a founding CEDIA company, or one of the innovators of in-wall/ceiling speaker technologies that a dozen plus companies have copied from.

Sonance is a leading company on actual merit and makes in-wall/ceiling speakers which are exceptional. While it seems like you want to make a Bose comparison (which I didn't make to MB Quart, as they are great speakers), this is uncalled for considering you actually did not give a reason why they aren't great speakers.

It makes perfect sense to me why someone would be interested in saving 40% or so in cash, even if a product is being purchased 'out of warranty', especially if that product is an industry leader in qualty of product.

No arguements from me on this, not sure why you are trying to sell it as if I said that the product was junk.

I can understand that somone wants what they want, but there is no need to purchase anything in such a manner.
If your budget is $400 or so, then that's the first reason.
If you want a full range speaker, with 8" drivers and pivoting speakers, then that's another reason.
If you want to stick with a brand name that is well respected, then that's another reason.

There aren't plenty of reasons to buy from unauthorized online vendors, but I know that I've done it in the past and have had service issues which I routed back through the reseller... without issue. Likewise, I've had maybe one or two issues that it didn't work out well. Price is a key factor in all of this, and the cost savings is not insignificant, and the quality level difference, is not something which is at all obviously in place.

Once again, I'm not knocing the MB Quarts, but I'm certainly not going to put up any flags or pretend that your opinion is pointless.

Hi ScKaSx,

I have tried to deal with them in the past but their shipping costs are outrageous. I was looking to buy the backboxes for my Sonance 623T's which they sell for a reasonable 44 bucks a pair. They wanted 50 bucks to ship them. The box weights less than 6lbs so they are obviously trying to make up the money on shipping and handling. I did call them to see if this was an error and they would not give an explanation as to why it was so high so I did not order from them. Add them to your cart and see if the shipping is reasonable to you and give them a call.

Let us know what you find out.

OK whats Gene paying you?:eek::D
I don't think you were around, but I was a MB Quart fan waaaaaaay before I found this site in '04. And, before there was an Audioholics Store. I have tried to inform people that pop-up with the "help me find speakers" threads about the quality, but none want to pay the price. If anyone were to hear the 700-800 series B&W and desire them, but not willing to fork over the $$$, MB Quart is a stellar competitor at a fraction of the cost.

I have no ties to Audioholics, other than being a forum member. Oh, and I purchased my BD player from them.

Fair enough...

Now when you sat down and listened to the $700 8" two-way MBs, how did they stack up agains the $400 8" three-way Sonance speakers?

Since I've not heard the MBs, I'm certainly not going to comment on them, but I've heard many other 8" in-ceiling speakers including Sonance, and sure wouldn't think to bash on them. In fact, a client of mine replaced B&W speakers with Sonance, because the expensive B&W speakers were not meeting his needs.

Just pointing out that just because you really, really like MB, does not make another product suck.

The fact that you continue to hurl stupid pictures, instead of addressing the issues and questions that I've brought up certainly doesn't seem to support your grounds for making a valid arguement for someone to spend 40% more cash.

Never stated I listened to Sonance. Actually, I never commented on them.

This makes sense, just like the B&W's price compared to Quart.

I never bashed Sonance. Read the thread again.

I never stated anything sucked.

The fact that you continue to hurl stupid pictures, instead of addressing the issues and questions that I've brought up certainly doesn't seem to support your grounds for making a valid arguement for someone to spend 40% more cash.
The last picture was supposed to be interpreted as me in shame. Sorry you didn't take it that way. I thought you would get a giggle, and it would make you quit being rude.

My only point in this whole damn thread was to suggest not to buy a product from an unauthorized dealer. I love B&W 800 series, but I certainly wouldn't fork out coin to an unauthorized net dealer I was uncertain of.

So, you just keep on suggesting that someone should do such a thing. What do you care, you will not be there if it doesn't go well.

I will keep spending my money at authorized dealers, such as the Audiohloics Store.

My reply(post #10) you quoted in your previous post(#11) was not even to you. Get a grip dude.

To the OP. I am truly sorry this happened to your thread. I only meant to suggest not to buy from an unknown, unauthorized dealer.

The OP hasn't even been back on-line since he posted the question.
