These are both LCD sets, with the JVC rated for 1080p and the Sony at 720p. Leaving aside the upcoming hi-rez discs (I'm going to wait out the format war), which of these sets does a better job with (1) DVD's and (2) standard (not HD) TV signals? My progressive-scan DVD player doesn't have an HDMI output, so the set will be getting a component video signal. I'm really interested in hearing the opinions of people who have looked at both sets. Or is a good 42" plasma set going to give a better picture than either of these choices???
