Operating temperature for an LCD

In my family room the best place to mount a flat panel for viewing is on the wall about ten feet from a wood stove. I would guess on a cold winter evening with a good fire going the temperature at that location is around 100 F.

Does anyone know what acceptable operating temperature ranges are for LCD or plasma displays?

I'm not sure about the production TV LCD units, but my 15" LCD laptop survived a year in Iraq where ambient temps would often go over 120F (and stay there)

Not so sure about plasma.

You might want to check manf specs. Electronics normally are rated for storage and operating temps.

The best way to answer that question might be to get the user manual for the LCD tv you are considering (or already have). The manual for the new Sony A20 55" LCD says 'Do not operate the tv in a hot or humid space...' or at temperatures below 40 degrees F. It doesn't give an exact value for how hot or how humid, but I would assume that 100 degrees F would be pushing it.
